Back in the city centre, Sundsvall offers a different kind of experience. The historic Stenstan – the Stone City – was rebuilt after the great fire of 1888 and is one of Sweden’s best-preserved urban environments from the late 19th century. Today, its streets are home to restaurants, cafés, shops and cultural experiences.

Follow in historic footsteps – S:t Olavsleden 

If you have more time, venture beyond the city and discover S:t Olavsleden, a long-distance pilgrimage route stretching from the Baltic coast in Sweden to Trondheim in Norway. 

You can follow a section of the trail for a day hike and experience the surrounding forests, countryside and historic landscapes at a slower pace. It is an opportunity to combine outdoor recreation, nature and cultural history while discovering more of the region around Sundsvall.
