Transport information

Sundsvall is easily accessible from across Europe and southern Sweden. For most travellers, the train is the most convenient and sustainable option.

From Stockholm – including Stockholm Arlanda Airport – Sundsvall can be reached in just over three hours by train, with several daily departures (see www.sj.se).

It is also possible to fly to Sundsvall–Timrå Airport. However, in line with our sustainability principles, flying should be considered a last resort when other options are not feasible.

By car, the journey from Stockholm to Sundsvall takes approximately four hours via the E4 motorway (via Uppsala and Gävle). Driving from Malmö takes around ten and a half hours, excluding stops. If travelling by car, we encourage car-sharing or the use of low-emission vehicles where possible.

For more guidance on planning a sustainable journey, please see the Sustainable travel section on this website.

Sustainable travel

Travelling sustainably is an important part of Euro’Meet 2026. By planning thoughtfully and choosing low-impact options, we can reduce our environmental footprint while making the journey an integral part of the experience.

Plan and prepare

  • Whenever possible, choose travel dates and times that allow you to travel by train and public transport.
  • Use central railway stations as meeting points when travelling together.
  • Plan visits to popular natural areas outside peak seasons. This helps reduce pressure on local ecosystems and avoids overcrowding.
  • Choose accommodation such as hotels, hostels, or organised campsites that are certified for sustainability (e.g. Green Key, EU Ecolabel, Global Sustainable Tourism Council). Supporting small, local businesses also strengthens the local economy.
  • Pack light and bring only what you need. Lighter luggage requires less energy to transport.
  • Pack smart: bring your own water bottle and cutlery to reduce the use of single-use items.

Slow travel

  • Use active transport whenever possible. Walk or cycle to your destination and explore trails and towns on foot or by bike – reducing emissions while connecting more closely with nature.
  • For longer distances, choose the train as your first option, followed by buses and other public transport.
  • If driving is necessary, opt for low-emission vehicles such as electric cars. Consider renting, car-sharing, or travelling together to reduce the number of vehicles.
  • Stay grounded — flying should always be the last resort.

Make transportation part of the adventure. Use the journey to talk, plan, and reflect together. Finally, share your travel experiences and inspire others by being a role model for sustainable travel.
